MP welcomes Dent post office outreach consultation

September 1, 2008 10:56 AM

Local councillor Peter Woof and residents at Dent Post OfficeSouth Lakes MP Tim Farron has today cautiously welcomed Post Office Ltd's decision to look again at their plans to replace Dent Post Office with an outreach service.

While the post office in the village will still close, Post Office Ltd are looking at providing a service for two mornings a week from Dent Stores instead of the Memorial Hall. They are now consulting local residents on the proposal.

On hearing the decision Tim Farron said: "While the closure of Dent's post offices will be a hard blow for local residents, Post Office Ltd's decision to listen to concerns raised about the use of the Memorial Hall as an outreach service should be welcomed.

"By using Dent Stores instead, the post office will be taken away from the busy area around the car park and school, and support the village shop which is key to so many people's lives."

If you are a resident of the Westmorland and Lonsdale constituency and are writing to discuss any issue that Parliament or government is responsible for, you must provide your home address as MPs are generally only permitted to act on behalf of constituents.

If you are not a constituent, you do not need to provide your address, but the matters we can deal with are more limited and you may wish to contact your local MP in the first instance.
