MP supports Whinfell School's Children in Need run

November 10, 2008 7:05 PM

Tim with staff and pupils of Whinfell School preparing for the runLocal MP Tim Farron joined pupils from Kendal's Whinfell Special School last Friday in a 5 mile fell run over Scout Scar to raise funds for the BBC Children in Need appeal.

Pupils Callum and Jake have already raised almost £200 and hope that Tim's involvement in the run will boost its profile and raise even more funds.

Tim said, "I visited Whinfell School earlier this year and was so impressed by the young people and by the staff there. Knowing that I am a keen, if somewhat limited, fell runner, Callum contacted me last month to ask if I'd join them on a run to raise funds for Children in Need and I was delighted to help out."

Callum, Jake and Tim were joined by school staff and completed a run which began at Helsington Church, went over Scout Scar and returned to Kendal at the north end of Windermere Road. People wanting to sponsor the run, can send cheques to BBC Children in Need care of Whinfell School, 110 Windermere Road, Kendal LA9 5EZ.

If you are a resident of the Westmorland and Lonsdale constituency and are writing to discuss any issue that Parliament or government is responsible for, you must provide your home address as MPs are generally only permitted to act on behalf of constituents.

If you are not a constituent, you do not need to provide your address, but the matters we can deal with are more limited and you may wish to contact your local MP in the first instance.
