Ming offers support to local election campaign

Sir Menzies Campbell, leader of the Liberal Democrats, visited Ambleside today to offer his support to the Liberal Democrat campaign for the local elections on May 4th.

Sir Menzies and his wife have spent a few days in the area and took the opportunity to meet with local MP Tim Farron. They visited an affordable housing development in Ambleside being run by Home Housing. The old Methodist Church in the centre of Ambleside is currently being transformed into 15 affordable units for rent for local people. Sir Menzies and Tim looked around the development and met with some of those involved in the project.

Tim commented: "This is an excellent development. As many people will know I have been campaigning hard for more affordable housing for local people. I am delighted that these properties will be reserved for local people and I have no doubt they will be quickly snapped up".

Following their visit to the Home Housing development, Sir Menzies had a walk around Ambleside along with Liberal Democrat candidates, and visited the market, meeting with local traders and residents.

Tim stated: "It was fantastic to have Ming in the area and for him to meet with some of our candidates for the local elections in May. It has been a great boost for the local Liberal Democrat campaign".
