Tim Farron MP in 6-a-side football tournament

Tim Farron played in goal in the 6-a-side football tournament

Local MP Tim Farron recently took part in a six a-side football competition organised by 'Ambassadors in Sport' and helped his side to a respectable third place in the tournament.

A four-day soccer school was run at Cartmel Priory School by 'Ambassadors in Sport', with coaches coming up from Bolton. However, one evening was given over to adult teams, one of which Tim joined as goal-keeper. Tim's team was made up of recent alumni of Queen Katherine School. Their final score sheet read, won two, drew two and lost one with Tim conceding just four goals in five games.

Covered in mud after the tournament, Tim went on to present awards and trophies to the winning team.

Tim commented: "The tournament was tremendous fun. However, had I known I was to present trophies afterwards I would have brought a change of clothes instead of dripping mud everywhere!"
