Local MP tackles traffic problems in Kirkby Lonsdale

12.00.00am BST (GMT +0100) Tue 11th Jul 2006

Local MP, Tim Farron, says that he is confident that a solution can be found to Kirkby Lonsdale's traffic and parking problems.

Speaking after a meeting with local residents, he said:

"I welcome this opportunity to bring the community together to deal with a serous local problem. The aim is to agree a common strategy that we can push forward together.

"We agreed that a pedestrian crossing is needed between St Mary's and Queen Elizabeth Schools and that better parking facilities should be provided on Kendal Road.

"I have now written to Cumbria County Council to ask them if they can carry out these improvements.

"There will be further discussion to agree additional proposals. I am confident that, working together, we can improve Kirkby Lonsdale's traffic and parking situation."
