MP Targets Climate Change to the Next Generation

2.08.21pm GMT Thu 15th Feb 2007

Environmental Issues and Climate Change are high on the agenda for local MP Tim Farron. In December the MP launched a campaign to work with schools to highlight the effects of climate change. Tim's campaign will build on the good work many schools already do in this field.

Tim visited John Ruskin School in Coniston on Friday to talk to the whole school assembly about the effect that climate change will have, and the role that they can play in reversing it.

Tim has invited every primary and secondary school in the constituency to join the campaign, and is going into many school over the next few months to talk to students about the issue.

Tim Farron said:

"The impact of climate change on all of humanity is almost unimaginably dreadful. The rise in global temperatures and the subsequent rise in sea levels will mean mass forced movement of people in desperate circumstances in both the developed and developing world. But it's not too late to prevent this, and young people must be at the vanguard of the campaign to fight climate change."
