"Dales signpost needed for M6" - Farron10.03.28am BST (GMT +0100) Thu 10th May 2007 Local MP, Tim Farron has today called for the installation of a signpost before junction 37 of the M6, alerting drivers to the fact that the Yorkshire Dales are only a short distance from the motorway. Sedbergh is the biggest population centre in the Dales and yet there is no signpost to the Dales from the motorway. Mr Farron has written to the Yorkshire Dales National Park Authority and the Highways Agency to press the case for a new signpost, and hopes to hear back from them shortly. Tim Farron said: "Sedbergh really is the gateway to the Dales and there should be a signpost which indicates this. Other villages such as Garsdale and Dent would also benefit hugely from this. "I have written to the two principle organisations concerned, The Yorkshire Dales National Park Authority and The Highways Agency urging them to consider installing a signpost at the earliest possible opportunity."
