Local MP Tim Farron is this morning cycling to work as part of Sustrans' Change Your World campaign. Tim has also supported the campaign, which aims to highlight the impact on our environment made by short car journeys, by proposing an Early Day Motion in the House of Commons.

Speaking before he set off by bicycle from his Milnthorpe home to his Kendal office, Tim said: "More and more people are becoming aware of the potentially disastrous impact that climate change could have on our environment. If we're to tackle climate change effectively we must act now. Many shorter car journeys can be easily made on foot or by cycling - and that's why I'm cycling to work this morning to highlight this issue."
