Farron welcomes Foxfield speed limit reduction

3.00.00pm GMT Wed 5th Mar 2008

Local MP Tim Farron today welcomed the halving of the speed limit through the village of Foxfield to 30mph. Tim Farron MP was one of those calling for the speed limit reduction, and Mr Farron today thanked Cumbria County Council's Local Committee for South Lakeland in approving the initiative.

Tim Farron MP said:

"This is a welcome result and I would like to thank all those who have worked so hard to make this possible, including the local County Council area committee which approved the final legal order to make this happen. 60mph was clearly far too fast for such dangerous stretch of road, and local residents can perhaps breathe a sigh of relief now that this long overdue reduction has been agreed"
