Local MP to open new Workbase offices

3.00.00pm BST (GMT +0100) Tue 20th May 2008

Local MP Tim Farron will this Friday open the new Kendal offices of Workbase, a charity which helps those recovering from mental ill health return to employment. Workbase achieves this by providing an opportunity to learn new skills and gradually introduce a working lifestyle back to the client within a normal working environment with regular hours and pro-active employment.

Workbase provides clients with an opportunity to learn Computer Skills, either in house or through Learn Direct, or there is the opportunity to attend a local college. The new offices will be located in the Kendal Business Park.

Tim Farron said:

"The staff at Workbase have many years of experience working with mental health patients and I am delighted that their new offices will give them more opportunity to do so.

"People recovering from mental illness don't need molly-coddling, just a leg up and it is organisations such as Workbase who provide this vital support."
