MP for Westmorland and Lonsdale, Tim Farron today attended the International Fund for Animal Welfare (IFAW) awards in Parliament to congratulate Bob Whittall, a constituent from Backbarrow, who received an Animal Action Award. The award was presented to Bob in recognition of his excellent work providing help to distressed or abandoned Staffordshire Bull Terriers.

Bob runs the Northern Staffordshire Bull Terrier Rescue Organisation in Cumbria, which takes in strays who need rehoming and rescues dogs from cruelty and neglect, bringing them to a place of safety and helping them find the most suitable new homes

Commenting Tim said:

"It was a real pleasure to see Bob pick up this award. It's well deserved recognition for all the hard work Bob and his team of volunteers spend tirelessly driving up and down the country, transporting dogs and doing home checks, as well as looking after the animals at the station.

"I'm sure that this success will only convince Bob to work harder to raise awareness of animal needs to members of the public."
