    Last night, local MP Tim Farron chaired the second part of a major parliamentary inquiry into the availability of radiotherapy services across the UK.

    In the session he and other MP colleagues pressed senior NHS managers responsible for national commissioning of radiotherapy.

    They pushed for answers on a whole range of aspects from the overall availability of this vital treatment, to the age of radiotherapy equipment, to staff training and the importance of satellite units to allow patients to access treatment closer to home.

    Local MP Tim Farron has praised the efforts of pupils from Heron Hill Primary School after they won a national award for their work beekeeping.

    The pupils travelled down to London to be presented with the 'Bees Needs' award by the Department for the Environment.

    Following their success, the children were given a guided tour of Parliament by Tim where they were able to quiz their MP on a range of environmental issues.

    Local MP Tim Farron has today secured a commitment from the Government to roll out a new NHS contract to Cumbria to address a serious shortage of NHS dentists in the county.

    During a debate in Parliament this morning secured by Tim, he said that the situation had reached breaking point with over half of all adults in Cumbria unable to see an NHS dentist in the past two years, whilst over 1 in 3 children in the county currently don't have a place with an NHS dentist.

    South Lakes MP Tim Farron has today welcomed the news that a service in Cumbria which alerts schools if an incident of domestic violence has taken place at the home of one of their pupils has been saved.

    The scheme sees specially trained staff at the charity Operation Encompass collate reports of domestic incidents dealt with by the police within the last 24 hours. Each school which a child involved attends is then contacted on a confidential basis.

    This Wednesday, South Lakes MP Tim Farron will hold a debate in Parliament to urge the Government to address the dental crisis in Cumbria.

    According to the British Dental Association (BDA) over half of all adults in Cumbria haven't seen an NHS dentist in the past two years, whilst over 1 in 3 children in the county don't have a place with an NHS dentist.
