June 8, 2011 9:33 AM

Tim speaking at the rally in BirminghamSouth Lakes MP Tim Farron has backed Burton Memorial hall in their campaign to win £60,000 in the Jubilee People's Millions on ITV Border to improve the facilities for the community.

Burton Memorial Hall's plans should they win is to provide junior toilets and a safe play area for its pre-school users, along with a much-needed new heating system and better lighting for the Hall. They have reached the final six projects in the Border TV region and those projects will compete head-to-head over 3 consecutive nights in June in a telephone vote.

On Tuesday 28 June 2011 local group 'Kosy Komfy Kidz' who use the hall will be on television showing off the building and asking local residents to vote for them. They will be battling against a project from Whitehaven. Whichever of these two projects wins the most telephone votes on the day will win up to £60,000 towards their project.

The telephone number to vote for them on will be published on each night on ITV Border news bulletin, it will also be in the Daily Mirror newspaper, and available from the Village Store and the Kings Arms in Burton-in-Kendal.
