South Lakes MP Tim Farron has today backed local Councillor Rob Boden’s campaign to improve facilities on the Hallgarth estate. South Lakes MP Tim Farron has today backed local Councillor Rob Boden's campaign to improve facilities on the Hallgarth estate.

Play equipment was removed on Acre Moss Lane after it was deemed unsafe. Councillor Rob Boden has launched a fundraising drive at a public meeting after no new play equipment replaced it, meaning young people on the estate were left with no facilities.

Tim has offered his help with the fundraising for new play equipment. Rob has got the support of South Lakeland District Council, South Lakes Housing and Home Housing and is also applying to Kendal Town Council for a grant.

Rob hopes to raise a total of £60,000 with half being raised in donations.

Tim said: "When I hold my regular surgeries on the estate I always see that the play area is well used - but since the equipment was removed it has left local children without a vital facility. I am pleased to back Rob Boden and the team of local residents and I will do whatever I can to help them raise funds."

Cllr. Rob Boden added: "Local residents are really concerned at the loss of play facilities in an area with so many children. Everyone is keen to help, and I think if we can work with all the agencies and get some grant applications in, we will be able to get some great new equipment for our children and young people."
