South Lakes MP Tim Farron welcomed this year's entrants of the Brathay Apprenticeship Challenge to a House of Commons reception where this years eight finalist teams were announced.
The Brathay Apprentice Challenge 2014 is the search for the apprentice team of the year, supported by the National Apprenticeship Service. Entrants have to prove their team building, leadership, logistical and communications abilities.
Entrants compete in a series of work-related challenges to develop new skills, benefit their local communities as well as raise the profile of their employers and Apprenticeships.
Tim spoke at the event today, where the eight teams of finalists were announced.
Commenting Tim said: "It was great to be able to welcome this year's Brathay Challenge entrants to the House of Commons, and meet representatives from the winning eight teams.
"This is a cause close to my heart, with apprenticeships a key part of Lib Dem policy and the Brathay Trust being a long standing and inspirational charity based in my constituency.
"Since this Government came in to power we have seen a dramatic rise in the number of apprenticeships available, and it's really encouraging to see schemes like the Apprenticeship Challenge capitalise on that ongoing success.
"This year's challenge is set to be a rewarding experience for all involved."
