South Lakes MP Tim Farron has thanked local bus company Travellers Choice after they announced that that they would save the 532 bus.
The bus covers the Cartmel Peninsula and is much valued by local residents. Tim was contacted by constituents who were concerned that the withdrawal of the service would leave them isolated.
In a reply to the MP, Mrs Caroline Shaw, Operations Manager of Travellers Choice said:
"Dear Mr Farron
Thank you for your e-mail. After careful consideration we have decided to operate the 532 Grange service ourselves, albeit with an amended timetable. Once we have finalised this I will let you have full details.
If I can be of any further assistance please don't hesitate to contact me.
Best Regards"
Tim said: "This is fantastic news and I want to thank Travellers choice for making this decision. Rural bus services are vital and I am committed to doing everything I can to protect them. I'm over the moon at this announcement and I'm delighted that we could act on local residents concerns and save a vital lifeline for residents in Grange and the Cartmel Peninsula."
