(www.adrianalmondphotography.com)Windermere's MP Tim Farron has urged local people make their views heard on whether Rayrigg Meadow should be added to the list of designated bathing waters.

The Department for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs have received an application from South Lakeland District Council for Rayrigg Meadow, Windermere to be designated as a bathing water under the Bathing Water Directive. The consultation can be found here: https://consult.defra.gov.uk/water/designation-of-rayrigg-meadow-windermere-bath-1/.

To reply to the consultation please either fill in the online form or email: bathingwater@defra.gsi.gov.uk or to reply via post to: Bathing Water Team, Department for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs, Area 3D Nobel House, 17 Smith Square London SW1P 3JR. The consultation is now open and runs from 24 Nov 2014 to 5 Jan 2015.

The existing bathing water at Millerground Landing is nearby and the lakeside area that covers both sites is being developed to increase public usage. This application is part of a wider regeneration of the Millerground area of Windermere, something that Tim wholeheartedly supports.

Tim said: "I am urging local people throughout Windermere and everyone who uses the area to get involved in the consultation. We need to regenerate the area and this is another helpful step in that work."
