Tim asked to go out with the police to get a taste of what life on the frontline is like for them.

Tim accompanied Inspector Paul Latham and other officers as he spent time at the station looking at their facilities including the custody suite, then joined a car patrol, before spending time on foot patrol in Kendal Town centre.

Tim said he got a good sense of how the police deal effectively and sensitively with vulnerable people, have a good rapport with pubs, bars and restaurant staff and are firm with those who risk the peace, safety and enjoyment of others.

Tim said: "I really appreciated the opportunity to be out and about with the police on Saturday and I'd like to thank Paul Latham and his team for having me along. I was really impressed by the professionalism of the team and how they related to members of the public who were out having a good time in Kendal.

"While I was out, the atmosphere was very positive among people who were able to enjoy themselves without incident."
