TF ruralSouth Lakes MP Tim Farron has urged local residents to nominate farmers for Countryfile's Farming Heroes Award 2015.

The award is part of the BBC Food and Farming Awards and the show's presenter Adam Henson will be one of the judges. Countryfile are asking people to nominate farming heroes in rural communities. In their information pack they say: 'Maybe your hero is a farmer or farming family who's made a difference by helping someone in need through difficult times. Perhaps they've battle against the odds to keep livestock safe, stepped in to help a farmer in dire straits, or just been an inspiration. Whether your Hero is a hill farmer, runs city farm, or volunteers in the countryside, Countryfile would like to hear about them.'

Tim said: "Many farmers in the Lakes not only do amazing work tending our beautiful landscape but they are the heart and soul of our communities. It would be wonderful to see their work recognised. I hope that lots of local residents put forward deserving candidates for this awards."
