March 26, 2015 5:35 PM

Tim speaking in ParliamentSchools Minister David Laws MP and South Lakes MP Tim Farron have today announced that Queen Elizabeth School in Kirkby Lonsdale and Arnside National CofE School will receive a major share of a £370 million school buildings fund.

Good school buildings are vital to making sure that more children and young people in Kirkby Lonsdale receive a first class education. The local school will receive money from the Condition Improvement Fund to rebuild their design technology block. The block will be a state of the art centre to deliver design technology education.

Arnside will receive funding to equip a kitchen at the school.

Tim said:"This money is absolutely fantastic news for children, parents and teachers in Kirkby Lonsdale and Arnside. It is much harder for teachers to teach and for children to learn when they are stuck in school buildings that aren't up to scratch.

"I want to pay tribute to the school staff and governors at both schools for their bids and I'd like to thank Schools Minister David Laws for his support of them.

"Investing in Queen Elizabeth School and Arnside Nationalwill give more of our local young people the opportunity to get the first class education they deserve."

Schools Minister David Laws MP added: "I am delighted to be announcing this funding for Queen Elizabeth School in Kirkby Lonsdalefought for and delivered by Tim and the school."
