Mountain Festival Success Praised By MP

South Lakes MP Tim Farron has heralded the 2014 Kendal Mountain Festival as the South Lakes MP Tim Farron has praised the "resounding success" of the Kendal Mountain Festival, which took place from the 19-22nd November.

The KMF brought together outdoor enthusiasts as well as athletes, top brands & equipment manufacturers, artists, photographers, adventurers, explorers and inspirational speakers from around the world for a celebration of adventure and outdoor sports.

There was a wide range of cultural offerings on show, at the heart of which was the International Film Competition, which showcased a shortlist of over 70 films. In addition to this, there were art and photography exhibitions, talks and book events.

Extra expenditure into the local economy generated by KMF has been independently calculated to be in excess of £2m.

Tim said: "I'm delighted that once again the Kendal Mountain Festival has been a resounding success, bringing together world leaders in their fields to celebrate outdoor mountain adventure.

"The Kendal Mountain Festival is not only a fantastic opportunity for local people to visit a top-class international festival here in Kendal, but also provides a significant boost to the local tourist industry.

"My thanks go to the organisers of the Kendal Mountain Festival, who have put on a superb event, as well as to the local volunteers who helped to make it happen."
