Farron welcomes bridge reopening

November 8, 2016 4:24 PM

Local MP Tim Farron has welcomed the news that Sprint Bridge near Burneside has reopened this evening following major repairs after flood damage.

Tim said: "This is hugely welcome news for local residents and businesses, and will be a boost to the village. My thanks go to all involved in the repair works.

"This is a reminder that although the flood water disappeared long ago, there are still communities here in South Lakeland that are fighting back from the floods.

"I will continue to push to ensure that repairs to other roads and bridges press ahead without delay, in particular Gowan Old Bridge in Staveley and Ford Bridge in Burneside."
