March 2, 2017 2:55 PM

Lakes Hospitality Trade ShowLocal MP Tim Farron yesterday opened the 42nd Lakes Hospitality Trade Show, which celebrates and promotes the area's hospitality sector. One hundred of the leading lights from across the local hospitality industry were present, to welcome over a thousand visitors to the event.

The Lakes Hospitality Trade Show, the focal point for the region's hospitality industry, was opened by Tim yesterday morning and is a two-day event. It is the first event to be held in Cumbria's largest Exhibition Hall - Junction 36 Rural Auction Centre off the M6.

In addition to a wide range of exhibitors from across the hospitality sector, for the first time this year there was a programme of seven, free 45 minute workshops on topics ranging from building a brand through to tips about online promotion.

Tim said: "The hospitality sector is a central part of our area's economy, supporting jobs and growth. Everybody knows that the Lake District has some of the most beautiful scenery in the country. Thanks to the efforts of local businesses it is also one of the country's leading hospitality destinations. This event is a celebration of all the local businesses working in this sector, bringing together the different aspects of the industry to promote their products and services. My thanks go to the organisers of this event, which I'm sure will help to boost the local hospitality industry."
