Ambleside police station re-opening must be accompanied by boost in officer numbers - MP

March 2, 2020 11:32 AM

Commenting on today's announcement that Ambleside police station is set to reopen, local MP Tim Farron said: "This is really welcome news.

"We are incredibly lucky to have such brilliant local police officers who work tirelessly to keep us safe. But with so few of them tasked with covering an area the size of London, there's no doubt they are massively overstretched.

"For too long promises of more police in Cumbria hasn't led to the officer numbers we need here in the South Lakes.

"If today's announcement is to lead to people across our area feeling safer, then it needs to be backed up with the officers on the ground and we will continue to hold the Government's feet to the fire until we see this happen."
