Budget provides jam tomorrow but no knife to spread it - MP

March 12, 2020 3:27 PM

Commenting on today's budget from the Government, South Lakes MP Tim Farron said: "Today the Conservatives promised billions to spend on infrastructure projects but with no workforce to deliver them, thanks to the Government's reckless immigration proposals and no plans to train up our young people.

"It's a case of promising jam tomorrow but with no knife to spread it.

"Meanwhile, there was no money for Special Educational Needs provision, no money to solve the social care crisis and nowhere near enough to tackle the biggest issue we face - climate change.

"The Government really haven't thought this through - Cumbria deserves better."
