South Lakes MP Tim Farron has added his voice to the calls for the Government to extend the ban on landlords evicting tenants during the coronavirus crisis.
The ban is set to expire this Sunday, with the housing charity Shelter warning that over 200,000 people are at risk of losing their homes as a result.
Tim said: "The reality is that if the Government lifts the ban on evictions this weekend, without providing any extra support for local councils or housing associations, we could see serious hardship.
"We simply cannot build back better from this crisis as a country if we create a pandemic of homelessness.
"My message to the Government is it's not too late to do another u-turn - don't lift the ban on evictions."
