MP and Windermere Lib Dem councillors launch petition calling for Goodly Dale GP surgery to be saved

September 3, 2020 2:45 PM

Local MP Tim Farron and local Lib Dem councillors Andrew Jarvis and Dyan Jones have today launched a petition calling for the Goodly Dale GP practice in Windermere to be saved.

Last month OneMedical Group, the provider of the GP practice, announced they would be handing back their contract to Morecambe Bay Clinical Commissioning Group (CCG).

Tim made representations to local health commissioners for patients in Windermere and Bowness to have access to a reliable GP practice

The CCG have since announced that they would launch a full consultation with local residents before making a decision on the future of the GP practice.

Tim is encouraging residents to take part in the consultation and to sign his petition calling for services to be saved.

Tim said: "I'm really grateful to our local health bosses for agreeing to listen to the views of local patients before making any final decisions.

"It's really important that we give them a really clear message that we want the Goodly Dale surgery to remain open, that the people who are given the new contract must not be some private company from far away like last time round, and that we have a local service with local doctors that people can rely on.

"If you agree with us, if you want to save our surgery then please sign the petition today."
